42% of Austrailian children cyberbullied

Unfortunately, some people still believe cyberbullying is not a problem.
According to a new survey conducted by Girlfriend Magazine, 42% of Australian teens surveyed have been cyberbullied.
- 76% of respondents know someone who’s been bullied or harassed online
- Girls are 2 1/2 times more likely to be cyberbullying victims
- Girls are more likely to be cyberbullies
The Pew Internet and American Life Project reports 1/3 of American children have been cyberbullied. (Remember, many children do not tell an adult if they are a target of electronic bullying, so those numbers may be misleading).
Cyberbullying is a rapidly growing problem, worldwide. As frequently reported on this educational resource blog, and in presentations to parents, educators and children, the effects of cyberbullying is serious and can be long-lasting. In fact, there are many documented cases of suicides because of this issue.
