New Cyber bullying Policy in Kentucky after Suicide...

The Bullitt County School Board in Kentucky,  passed a new policy to protect children from cyber bullying.

Last year, Bullitt East High School student Rachael Neblett committed suicide after her parents said she received repeated threats on MySpace.  Also last year, Bullitt County police arrested two high school students for threatening a middle school student online.

In fact, there was so much disruption last year, that several hundred students left Bullitt Central High School after the threats appeared on the social networking site,  MySpace.

"The threats had caused a lot of fear among the students that passed onto the parents and a lot of times the parents would come and remove the students," School Board Attorney Eric Farris said.

A no-tolerance policy for students making threats via the Internet on or off campus if it disrupts the learning process.

**Parents, INSIST your school has an anti-cyber bullying policy in place which includes cyber bullying that occurs OFF CAMPUS.

(I am still waiting on approval for the anti-cyber bullying policy I wrote in April....)
