Robert Ashley, 63, was arrested in Colorado on allegations of secretly videotaping female elementary school students, a felony.  The former teacher and substitute teacher has taught at numerous schools in New Mexico and elsewhere.

A teacher’s assistant found a backpack with a video camera in the teachers’ lounge and alerted others. The backpack had a hole made in it that allowed the video camera to be used without detection.

Ashley allegedly admitted his sexual attraction to 8 and 9-year-old girls.  Ashley admitted to becoming aroused while tickling girls' feet on the playground at school, according to the complaint.

Due to a tip, Ashley was later apprehended in a Colorado motel room, and is awaiting extradition to New Mexico.
